Bullivant Arabia Ltd. (BAL) was appointed by Al-Fanar Company for
carrying out cavity probing and pressure grouting works for a
115/13.8 kV substation intended as a permanent power supply to Saudi
Arabian National Guard (SANG).
The existence of cavities was confirmed from the soil investigation
reports of Al-Hoty Stanger Ltd. and the bore hole log details in the
report indicate the presence of cavities and fissures in the
limestone rock strata, these voids are considered a solutioning
cavities.
The scope of work for Bullivant Arabia Ltd. consisted of the
following:
**
Mobilization of
staff, drilling and pressure grouting machinery to the site.
**
Pressure grout the
existing 25 holes at the site drilled earlier for bore hole logs
**
Depending on the
data collected on the intake of grout and its flow characteristics,
secondary and tertiary probe holes to be drilled and pressure
grouted.
The limestone rock strata had lot of cavities and fissures, which
necessitated drilling for secondary and tertiary holes and pressure
grouting them till it was made sure that all the existing cavities
directly below the footings to be constructed for the substation are
filled and stabilized. An overall 153 holes + 25 existing holes to a
depth of 10 meters maximum were pressure grouted and the grout
consumed to fill the encountered cavities was approximately 350
cubic meters.
